The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday near the Hancock-Marion County line.
INDIANAPOLIS — One person was killed in a crash involving two vehicles on Indy’s far east side Wednesday morning.
At around 6:30 a.m., IMPD officers responded to South Carroll Road and Brookville Road, near the Hancock-Marion County line, on a report of the accident.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found both vehicles with one driver inside of each of them. IMPD says one of the driver’s was pronounced dead, and the other driver involved was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
According to INDOT, all eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 52 are closed as IMPD’s fatal crash investigation team works on the scene. Brookville Road is closed at Kitley Road, and South Carroll Road is closed northbound from East Troy Avenue and southbound from West 300 South.
IMPD is asking drivers to avoid the area for the next few hours during the investigation.
