INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a person early Friday morning.

Officers say they received a report around 2:30 a.m. of an accident at the intersection of 56th and Lafayette Road.

According to IMPD, a Jeep was heading east on 56th Street when a Mercedes-Benz that had been stopped at a red light drove into the intersection and ended up getting t-boned by the Jeep.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

The driver of the Jeep suffered only minor injuries and refused to go to the hospital.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
