2 dogs killed, 1 pet rescued in Peoria house fire [Video]

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — Two dogs have died after a fire broke out at a Peoria home on Friday morning.

Officials say the fire was reported at a home near 95th Avenue and Lake Pleasant Parkway, north of Beardsley Road. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from inside.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control and discovered it started in the kitchen.

During a search and rescue, two pets dog were found. Firefighters attempted to save them, but both died. Peoria Fire says a third pet was saved by the homeowners when they initially escaped.

No injuries to firefighters or homeowners were reported. Firefighters say the home had extensive damage, so the residents will be displaced for some time.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
