2016 Murder suspect who fled to Mexico extradited to Yamhill County [Video]

YAMHILL COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – A 45-year-old murder suspect was extradited from Mexico and returned to the United States to face charges from a 2016 murder in Yamhill County on Tuesday.

Victor Melcher-Villalba recently completed extradition proceedings in Mexico and was transported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) back to Oregon, where he was housed in the Yamhill County jail.

On October 2, 2016, the body of an adult woman was found in a blueberry field in Dayton by a passerby. The body was later identified as 37-year-old Lilia Cosco-Ortiz from Vancouver, WA.

Cosco-Ortiz’s autopsy revealed she was murdered.

The investigation led police to Oregon, Washington and California. January 19, 2017, Melcher-Villalba was indicted by a Yamhill County Grand Jury on one count of murder and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
