Families encouraged to practice tornado safety in Thursday night drill [Video]

LEDGEVIEW, Wis. (WBAY) – Thursday, April 11, you’ll hear tornado sirens twice for a statewide drill for Wisconsin’s Severe Weather Awareness Week.

It gives you and your family an opportunity to practice the steps you’d go through in the event of a real tornado, including what to do and where to go, so you can do it without delay — which can be life-saving.

Sirens will sound at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Tornado sirens sound when there is a tornado warning, meaning a tornado is indicated on radar or was spotted by a trained professional.

This drill gives you a chance to practice twice, perhaps once at work and for kids at school, and then again when everyone is home to practice their routine there.
