TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Tucson Friday, April 3, and toured the city’s emergency communications center.
He also participated in a roundtable discussion on the fentanyl crisis in Tucson. The secretary praised Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and the way the city has handled the issue.
Blinken highlighted the importance of adding the 311 call center.

“Bringing together 311 and 911, taking some of the burden off police so they don’t have to deal with every single situation where some other actor in the system may be better placed to do it. That’s a huge, huge initiative. I think it’s making a difference,” Blinken said.
