Visibility concern on Fremont roundabout eliminated after 6 News investigation [Video]

FREMONT, Neb. (WOWT) – For weeks, a safety concern has been growing in the middle of a roundabout, creating a direct visibility hazard for drivers.

“Earlier this year, you could see alright, but now the weeds are grown and you have to look ahead and watch the traffic coming,” said Dana Verbeek, who was driving through the roundabout which connects Highway 77 to Broad Street in Fremont.

Every driver must yield and take their turn, but it’s been harder to judge how quickly traffic is coming around the bend.

“They don’t have enough reaction time and they just cut that corner,” said Dave Campbell, another driver.

Dave and Dana have property nearby and go through the roundabout once a day, if not more.

“Just watch the traffic,” Dana said. “The weeds are blocking it so it might be a little bit dangerous.”
