Mets Kodai Senga continues to go through progression: Hes not there yet [Video]

NEW YORK — Mets pitcher Kodai Senga continued to go through his pitching progression at Citi Field.

While his teammates prepared for the first game in a three-game series against the Braves, Senga threw a bullpen session Friday. Though Mets manager Carlos Mendoza wasn’t there to see his ace in action, pitching coach Jeremy Hefner provided him with an update.

“He’s working through his mechanics,” Mendoza told reporters. “He’s not feeling like he’s there yet. So (we’ll) wait and see how he comes back tomorrow and the next day, but it’s more mechanics that he’s dealing with right now.”

The Mets won’t provide the next steps for Senga until they see how he feels over the next couple of days, a tact they’ve been taking with the pitcher who suffered a right posterior capsule shoulder strain in the first week of camp in February.
