landline 911 outage affects majority of Iowa, including Scott, Clinton, Muscatine Counties; water pipe break in Des Moines to blame [Video]

UPDATE: The Muscatine Emergency Management Agency said in a news release that Muscatine County is also affected by the outage.

WHO is reporting that the issue stems from a water pipe break at Lumen Technologies on 10th Street and High Street in Des Moines.

Lumen released a statement, saying “Our techs are working hard to fix a service disruption, caused by a water pipe break, which is affecting landline 911, phone, and Internet service for some customers in Central and Eastern Iowa. Restoring impacted services is our top priority. We’ll provide regular updates, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.

“EARLIER: The Scott County Emergency Management Agency issued a news release saying the statewide issue with calling 911 from landlines is affecting Scott County. There is still no estimated time of repair for the issue. Residents who need 911 services should call from a cell phone.
