Landline phone outage reported in Iowa [Video]

SIOUX CITY — A landline phone outage is reportedly affecting communications in the State of Iowa. 

In a social media post Thursday morning, Woodbury County Emergency Management reported a “technical issue affecting land-line phone service across the State of Iowa including Woodbury County.” 

Cellphone, wireless and 911 services are not impacted, the department wrote. The City of Sioux City reported the same on its Twitter account. 

News organizations across the state have reported phone service outages in Iowa Thursday morning; reports have varied on whether the outage affects 911 calls. Woodbury County Emergency Management says 911 service is not impacted, while the Dixon County (Nebraska) Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post that 911 is affected. Thurston County (Nebraska) 911 service is also affected, according to the Dixon County Sheriff’s Office post.
