Man killed in Branford I-95 rest area exit crash [Video]

BRANFORD, CT (WFSB) – Interstate 95 northbound was closed in Branford early on Tuesday morning because of a deadly crash.

State police identified the victim as Josiah Lawrence Steinman, 24, of New Haven.

State police said the crash occurred at 3:15 a.m. and involved a tractor-trailer and another vehicle at the rest area exit.

Troopers said the tractor trailer was parked in the right shoulder, north of the ramp.

Steinman collided with the back of the tractor trailer, state police said.

He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for serious injuries; however, he later died.

Troopers requested an accident reconstruction team to the scene.

There’s no word on what caused Steinman to veer into the tractor trailer.
