POINTE COUPEE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating after three kids were injured in a boating accident on False River.
Agents were called to False River around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 and learned a boat was towing three children in a tube. The children fell into the water and were waiting for their boat to loop back and pick them up when a 25-foot pontoon boat was nearby and ran them over, LDWF said.
A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital for lacerations to his lower legs and feet but is expected to make a full recovery, according to LDWF. One child had a concussion and the other had minor injuries.
“The pontoon operator stated that he lost steering of the pontoon boat and tried to avoid the kids in the water,” LDWF said.
