DOJ releases new details about wrong-way crash on I-39 [Video]

KRONENWETTER, Wis. (WSAW) – The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation has released new details about an officer-involved incident in Kronenwetter.

Around 7:30 p.m. on June 11, Kronenwetter Officer Mason Dallman attempted a traffic stop near Maple Ridge Road and I-39. Investigators said the vehicle did not stop, and the officer initiated a pursuit.

The vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction going southbound in the northbound off-ramp of I-39 striking a semi-trailer unit that was traveling northbound on I-39. Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the semi was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured.

The Kronenwetter officer is on administrative leave, per policy. The DOJ says the officer was wearing a body camera.
