Cyclist, 50s, rushed to hospital with serious injuries after horror smash with car in Westmeath as witness appeal made [Video]

A CYCLIST has been left severely injured after a horror smash with a car in Westmeath.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene on the Moat Road in Ballymore, Co Westmeath, just before 1:30pm yesterday.

The smash involved a bicycle and a car.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was quickly rushed to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore where he is currently receiving treatment for his serious injuries.

The car driver did not require any medical assistance and no other injuries were reported at the scene.

The scene has been examined, and the road has since fully reopened.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Gardai are appealing for any witnesses or persons with information to come forward.
