CPS Energy sends dozens of workers to help Houston amid widespread power outages [Video]

The company said they sent about 60 workers to help with the Houston area restoration efforts.

SAN ANTONIO — CPS Energy sent out dozens of employees to Houston to help restore power to more than a million residents after the damage by Hurricane Beryl Tuesday.

Officials with CPS Energy confirmed they sent out 60 employees including equipment operators, pole and line crews, fleet personnel, and safety professionals.

“We’re ready. We’re prepared,” Guillermo Hernandez, a utility worker with CPS Energy said. 

 Hernandez received a call yesterday informing him he was heading to Houston. He said the trip will likely last crews several days.

 “We’ll be installing poles to removing old poles,” Hernandez said. 

Houston’s power provider CenterPoint Energy has also asked for help from other area companies leading to an additional 10,000 power workers assisting in the utility’s restoration effort.
