Barrel racer from Lake Clear, N.Y. to compete in national high school competition [Video]

The North Country is typical for showcasing horses via their jumping abilities during the summer, but one rider is doing it a bit differently. Ashlyn Snyder, from Lake Clear, NY, is a competitive barrel racer who is set to enter her first National High School Finals Rodeo in Wyoming at 15 years old. “I’m looking forward to it,” Snyder said. “I can’t wait to see the corn fields and flat lands and I’m excited to see the different places.” Snyder, who qualified for the championships via her accomplishments in over 20 different barrel races across the United States, is leaving her family speechless with how proud they are of her. “It’s hard to even explain,” said Ashlyn’s aunt Amber Fletcher. “She’s come so far, I don’t even have words.” At the same time, Snyder says her family has always been a critical part of her journey, especially her father Ed …
