Caretaker sentenced to 60 years for murder of elderly Peoria woman [Video]

PEORIA (25News Now) – A live-in caretaker found guilty of murdering the Peoria woman he was caring for was sentenced to 60 years in prison.

In June, Dmitri G. Rogatchev was found guilty in the December 2019 murder of 75-year-old Sandra Jackson.

Court documents revealed Rogatchev became frustrated with Jackson because the television volume was up too loud. As they argued, Rogatchev became enraged and hit and kicked Jackson, resulting in a deadly brain injury.

An autopsy showed Jackson suffered two injuries, one on each side of her head. Those injuries led to significant bleeding and pressure on her brain, which she ultimately died from.

He was given credit for 1,686 days served – just over four and a half years – according to the Peoria County Circut Clerk’s Office.
