1 killed after being struck by dump truck in Tooele [Video]

TOOELE CITY, Utah — A man riding a bicycle was killed Friday after being struck by a dump truck on Main Street in Tooele city.

Due to the accident, Main Street at 975 North was closed to all traffic, but reopened just before 4:45 p.m.

Officials said the incident occurred at 1:20 p.m. as the victim, a male in his late 50s, was riding a bicycle on the street when the garbage truck pulled out of a nearby 7-Eleven parking lot when he was struck.

When officers arrived, the unidentified man had already died on the scene.

The driver of the truck remained at the crash site and is cooperating with police as an investigation begins.
