Woman and girl die after man allegedly crashes into house on purpose [Video]

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV/Gray News) – Police say a suspect is in custody after they believe he intentionally ran a car into a residence in Illinois, killing two people inside.

Members of the Belleville Police Department responded to the 100 block of South 8th Street, Belleville, Illinois, at around 9:10 a.m. Sunday, after a report of a car into a building and a structure fire.

Police said a man drove a vehicle into a duplex, which then caught fire. They said a woman and a girl were found dead in the wreckage.

Police said they believe the driver crashed into the home on purpose.

They said the driver then fled down the railroad tracks. After a tip, police said they arrested him at a Dollar Tree nearly three miles from the crash.

The victims’ names have yet to be released, and the driver has not been charged.
