SALEM Ore. (KPTV) – Monday the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission’s IMPACTs grant committee reversed its decision to deny Clackamas County funding for addiction treatment and rehabilitation centers.

The funding will help Clackamas County to build a new deflection center for those experiencing addiction.

This comes as Oregon’s Re-criminalization law goes into effect on Sept. 1.

There was at least one amendment with the funding approval to eliminate an administrative position.

DA John Wentworth issued a statement on amending the application to reflect the elimination of that position.

“I voluntarily removed the position from the proposal to satisfy the committee’s concerns that the DA’s Office was getting too much of the grant money. We will be the county office most heavily impacted by HB4002, but I offered that concession to address those concerns.”

Clackamas County District Attorney John Wentworth said he is happy with the committee’s decision and issued a statement.
