New Orleans Saints OL Taliese Fuaga leaves practice early with back injury [Video]

Taliese Fuaga is transitioning from playing right tackle in college to playing left tackle in the NFL.

The rookie reportedly has been making steady progress during training camp, but may have suffered a setback on Thursday. Fuaga, the Saints’ first-round pick (No. 14) in the 2024 NFL draft, left practice early after experiencing what the team said was “back tightness.”

Fuaga was examined by a team trainer before walking off the field on his own.

“Looked to me like prior to even starting practice, looked to me like he was kind of stretching his back out a little bit. So I don’t know if it was bothering him beforehand,” Coach Dennis Allen told reporters after practice. “I would say this, I would say if he is a healthy body and capable of playing, then he’ll play in the game.
