A Boy Scout who was injured on a camping trip will leave the hospital soon | News [Video]

After a camping incident caused a Boy Scout a severe brain injury, Ethan Hills will soon transition to rehabilitation.

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEVV) — A young Boy Scout, 11-year-old Ethan Hills, suffered a severe brain injury on an overnight camping trip when a part of a tree fell on his tent. 

He was life flighted to a Louisville hospital after suffering a severe brain injury, that included a skull fracture and brain bleeding.

Ashley Hills, Ethan Hills mother, says, “It does feel like I have a newborn again in a lot of ways, where you’re watching kind of their brain has to rewire itself and kind of learn how to do all of those things.”

Shy of a month since his accident Ethan is opening his eyes, he’s able to recognize family members, he responds to commands, and has even had some bites of real food.
