A further affirmation, in GOP response to Trump guilty verdicts, for why democracy is on the ballot [Video]

The utter depravity of members of Ohio’s Republican congressional delegation was on full display after Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies by a jury of his peers. U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, Sen. J.D. Vance and others were tripping over each other to condemn not just the verdicts, but the entire criminal justice system, all the while offering no evidence to support their outrageous assertions.

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno apparently couldn’t resist joining in the hyperbole. Moreno’s reference to Trump’s criminal trial resulting in his multiple felony guilty verdicts as “election interference” demonstrates both his reckless judgment and his lack of fitness for public office.

The willingness of these Republicans to verbally trash the rule of law, apparently out of boot-licking fealty to their dear leader and now convicted criminal is both sad and frightening. If they hold the systems and institutions that undergird our fragile democracy in such disdain, …
