A WALMART shopper has revealed a way customers can legally avoid receipt checks in-store.
Retailers have introduced a host of increasingly controversial anti-theft measures.
Marlee DeVane shared how receipt checks in particular have caused a lot of confusion among shoppers.
DeVane said people at Walmart did not legally have to stop and show their proof of purchase to staff.
“Allot of people don’t know this. I had a lady tell me the other day that she thought it was against the law not to show them her receipt,” she wrote in her Facebook post.
DeVane then explained that the legal responsibility would be with the retailer.
“I laughed and said, no ma’am it’s actually against the law for them to try and stop you from leaning the store,” she wrote.
