BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – Fireworks will be flying for the Fourth of July, especially with the fireworks sale kicking off today. 

In Butte County, fireworks are only legal within the city limits of Oroville, Gridley and Biggs.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said there are strict regulations in place for fireworks because of the risk they pose to potentially causing fires and injuring people.

If those regulations are not followed, there will be consequences that include fines and even jail time. 

Ramsey tells Action News Now that, especially with next week’s forecast of intense heat, tolerance for violating the law is very low.
