SEDGWICK--A 17-year-old George Stevens Academy graduate is a survivor who is now embarking on a new journey.

“It’s good to show where my journey kind of began,” Olivia Larrabee said. “Both of our parents were heroin addicts.”

Olivia Larrabee is an overcomer. When she was just 7-years-old she was removed from this home and placed in Maine’s foster care system.

“They put my brothers into a separate car and me and my sister Ava in a separate car, and my oldest brother said, ‘Just take care of Ava,'” she said.

Olivia lived with a foster family in Ellsworth before she and her sister Ava were adopted by the Larrabee family in Sedgwick.

“She went into a supervised visitation with one of her biological parents. She walked in checked her parents arm, saw track marks, and left,” explained Jennifer Larrabee, Olivia’s mother. “And I knew …
