AAMU mourns Dr. Ernest Knight, alumnus and lifelong supporter [Video]

Born in Evergreen, AL, Knight was 1953 graduate of AAMU and was instrumental in recruiting students to attend college on “The Hill.” He was passionate about representing AAMU at numerous high school college day programs to increase enrollment and provide a conducive college experience for students.

From 1970 to 1974, he served as National Alumni Association President. During his tenure, several projects were developed that impacted the students and the community. Dr. Knight was a distinguished biologist who was dedicated to education and research. He served as Department Chair and Professor at Hostos Community College and the City University of New York.

His commitment to AAMU allowed him to serve as a life member of the Alumni Association, a member of the Normal Legacy Society, Alumnus of the Year, and be inducted into the AAMU Alumni Hall of Fame. Additionally, he was honored by the Governor of Alabama in …
