American Red Cross looking for blood donations ahead of Fourth of July donation dip [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Organizations who rely on blood donations are putting out the word that the upcoming month is typically a time when they run short.

The Red Cross experiences a drop in donors twice a year, in December and July. It’s due to regular donors usually being too busy to give blood because of holiday celebrations.

And while supply may go down, demand stays the same, especially during natural disasters as hospitals rely on Red Cross reserves to stay stocked.

If you’re looking to help out, two Super Donor Days blood drives will be held next week. One on July 2nd from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and one on July 3rd from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Both will be held at the Tundra Lodge Resort and Conference Center.

The American Red Cross will accept walk-in donations but do encourage people to make an appointment. All …
