Anchorage and Mat-Su students donned helmets and safety vests for Construction Career Day | Homepage [Video]

The state fairgrounds was a construction site of its own Wednesday morning, but not one you’d think. High School and middle school students donned safety vests, helmets, and safety glasses to check out all the possible jobs they could get into at Construction Career Day. Kids had a chance to check out some pretty neat things, like doing some carpentry, checking out the welding, and even some of the heavy equipment.

Michael Marquez-Hopson goes to Reddington High School, and he expresses his interest in working in the railroad industry.  He enjoyed Construction Career day saying, “I think it’s cool. I think it’s good how kids can go and check out all the jobs and all the opportunities they can get.”

Even some of the middle schoolers were looking forward to checking out all the possible job opportunities.  Kobe Henry said, “I like welding and heavy equipment.”
