Arrest in hit-and-run where Texas father saved young son [Video]

Jonathan Acosta turned himself in Thursday and faces charges of collision involving death, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. 

According to an arrest affidavit, 55-year-old Raul Pena was walking with his 12-year-old son on June 3 when he was struck by a driver in an unknown vehicle who didn’t stop. The accident occurred on the Dove Canyon access road at Loop 1604. 

Authorities said Pena moved his son out of the way to avoid being hit by the truck. Emergency crews performed life saving measures on Pena and he was transported to a local hospital, but later died. 

At the time of the accident, deputies believed it was a dark Toyota Tacoma or Tundra that struck Pena. Authorities collected evidence from the scene including debris from the truck’s grill, including the letters …
