Austin pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on North US 183 [Video]

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police say a driver left the scene of a crash that left a pedestrian dead earlier this week.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 13600 block of North U.S. 183 northbound. Police said the driver did not stay on the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital but was later pronounced dead.

This is being investigated as Austin’s 33rd fatal crash of the year, resulting in 34 deaths. On June 4, 2023, there had been 43 fatal crashes resulting in 43 deaths.
