Autopsy reveals child’s cause of death at camp [Video]

The death of a 12-year-old boy who died at a North Carolina wilderness camp in February has now been ruled a homicide, according to an autopsy report.The report, issued by the North Carolina Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, states the cause of death was asphyxia due to smothering. The boy died less than 24 hours after having arrived at Trails Carolina, in Transylvania County, a for-profit program for troubled adolescents that has since lost its operating license. Video above was published on Feb. 16, 2024.Trails Carolina has said the death appeared to be accidental and that staff members performed CPR after they found the boy unresponsive the morning after he arrived.
