BBB: How to avoid contractor scams after severe weather damage [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Experts at the Better Business Bureau report this year’s storm damage to properties has been especially volatile.

For many homeowners, some of their first thoughts after a natural disaster are “Who do I call to fix this,?” “How much is this going to cost,?” and “How fast can I get this done?”

The BBB’s first tip is to breathe and, if you can, do not put a strict time frame on getting it done.

Vice President of Marketing at BBB, Josh Planos, said when homeowners are in a rush to get damage fixed, they often hire contractors without researching them.
