Bicyclist dies 3 days after being struck by 2 vehicles, 1 driver arrested for DUI [Video]

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — One driver is facing DUI charges after striking a bicyclist on July 2. The bicyclist died three days after the crash, Las Vegas Metropolitan police said.

The crash occurred near midnight on S. Nellis Boulevard, south of Desert Inn Road. According to police, the bicyclist, identified as 59-year-old David Brooks, was traveling against traffic in the southbound Nellis lanes, crossed the center median, and went into the path of a northbound Dodge Dakota which struck his bike and threw him into the southbound lanes where he was hit by another car.

Brooks was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with critical injuries and died on July 5, police said. The driver of the Dodge, Anthony Wayne Tate, 44, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into Clark County Detention Center. The other driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
