COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) – Emergency personnel responded to a small biplane crash Wednesday afternoon at the Council Bluffs Municipal Airport.

The Stampe was designed as a biplane touring and training aircraft in the early 1930’s by Stampe and Vertongen at Antwerp, Belgium. Only 35 aircraft were built before the company was closed during the Second World War. The exhibition airshow takes place every year at the airport in Antwerp. This particular plane is the oldest flying Stampe. (AP Photo/Virginia Mayo)(Virginia Mayo | AP)
