Bixby residents share thoughts on school district maintaining curriculum amid statewide changes | News [Video]

BIXBY, Okla. — As Oklahoma students prepare to head back to school, many don’t know whether or not the Bible will be included in their curriculum.

This is after State Superintendent Ryan Walters’ requirement for classrooms to incorporate the Bible as an instructional resource.

On Thursday, Bixby’s school superintendent joined with Moore and Norman Public Schools in opposition of Walters’ requirement.

FOX23 spoke with some parents and students on Saturday who shared their thoughts on the decision.

FOX23 sat down with Debra Koch and her sister, Sue Davis, who’s visiting from Louisiana. They were inside the Apple Barrel Café and not looking at the menu, but talking about the upcoming school year in Oklahoma.

“I had no idea what you were talking about I’ve never heard such a thing. If that’s what Oklahoma wants to do then maybe I don’t know if I want to come back to Oklahoma,” Davis said.
