Boston Marathon bombing survivor realizes amputees’ dreams [Video]

The Heather Abbott Foundation has realized the dreams of over 150 people in the 10 years since its creation. Heather Abbott was enjoying a beautiful spring day in 2013. She and her friends went to the Red Sox game and left early to watch the marathon at the finish line.Then came the second blast of the infamous Boston Marathon bombing. Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham and his wife Erin carried Abbott, whose foot felt like it was on fire, to safety.For Abbott, healing was difficult, but she had help.”The other amputees were able to come to the hospital and kind of give me some hope and realize that life wasn’t over,” she said.From the tears and pain of that day, the Heather Abbott Foundation was born.
