Bowling Green recovering after severe weekend weather [Video]

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Warren County Judge Executive Doug Gorman has issued a state of emergency for the county following this weekend’s severe weather, as the area continues the path to recovery.

With outages across the area, WRECC’s Senior Director of Communications and Public Relations Kim Phelps said crews are fighting wind damage and down poles as they continue to try and restore power.

“Right now we’re at 71 poles broken throughout the service territory. So we do have a lot of wind damage. I think that was the main cause throughout the service territory, a lot of downed lines,” Phelps said. “Replacing poles is a time-intensive, labor-intensive job that has to be done. But we do have experts in that field, so we’re working as hard as we can to get that done.”
