Stroke, a devastating neurological event, is personal tragedy and also a global healthcare challenge. It is the leading cause of disability and the second leading cause of death worldwide. Shockingly, studies reveal that 1 in 4 adults over the age of 25 will suffer a stroke in their lifetime, emphasising the urgent need for effective rehabilitation services. However, a staggering 50 per cent of stroke survivors do not receive the rehabilitation they require, as highlighted by the World Health Organization Rehabilitation 2030 initiative.
