California blackouts: PG&E could turn off power due to fire risk [Video]

The list includes parts of Yolo and Solano counties, but no Public Safety Power Shutoff has been called for at this time.

PG&E said Public Safety Power Shutoffs were possible July 2 in parts of Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Napa, Shasta, Solano, Tehama and Yolo counties.

Maps for the impacted areas are typically available 2 days before a planned blackout.

“PG&E Meteorology has updated its forecast, indicating the potential for breezy to locally gusty winds from Monday night through Wednesday morning, peaking on Tuesday,” a PG&E spokesperson told ABC10. “While a strong wind event is not currently expected, wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph with pockets to 40 mph in the Northern and Western Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills. This, combined with high temperatures and low humidity, has increased the wildfire risk, prompting the PSPS forecast to move into elevated status for several counties on Tuesday.
