Passionate residents packed the Cape Elizabeth Town Hall for Monday night’s public hearing, lining the room and waiting to express their thoughts about different proposals for the future of their schools. “It is the hope of the town council that this issue be set up and resolved to the satisfaction of the public in the November election, so that is our earnest desire,” said Timothy Reiniger, Cape Elizabeth town council chair.The proposals up for debate stem from growing concerns over the safety of several Cape Elizabeth schools. Voters first rejected a $116 million proposal to rebuild two schools back in November 2022.“We’ve known that schools are deteriorating.
