GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – We’re now thinking and talking about warmer weather. A new tool can protect you and your family from heat exposure.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) launched a new heat and health initiative with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and National Weather Service (NWS).
The NWS HeatRisk forecast tool shows the risk of heat-related illness in the continental U.S. on a scale of 0 to 4. You can zoom in from a continental view right down to your neighborhood.
It works by showing you when temperatures may reach levels that can harm your health.
The initiative includes a 7-day nationwide heat forecast that will tell you when temperatures are dangerous.
It also has information on local air quality and new guidance to help doctors keep at-risk patients safe as temperatures rise.
