Cell phone outage impacts Kansas City-area Sheriffs Office [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Millions of customers are being impacted by a nationwide AT&T outage.

The company told CNN that a problem is preventing many AT&T customers from completing calls between carriers. The problem also means customers using other providers can’t call someone on the AT&T network.

Calls between people on AT&T’s network are connecting. The company said internet access is not impacted with the issue.

The Miami County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office is one of the customers impacted by the outage.

The office shared a picture of the department’s “backup plan” on Facebook Tuesday evening.

According to the post, the office has a specific backup plan because some of its equipment uses cellular data.

The First Net Emergency Response Team arrived at the sheriff’s office to make sure it can still operate, even with the nationwide outage.
