Center for People continues to provide thousands in the Capital City with basic need items [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Center for People in Lincoln serves thousands of people each week through their food distributions, diaper distributions and life development courses.

Last year, the center served 1,700 unduplicated households. Now, they’re serving 2,300 unduplicated households weekly.

Michaela Weverka, with the Center for People said now is the time to step up to help the Lincoln community.

“The Center has a place here in Lincoln and we need to continue to be able to serve our population,” Weverka said. “Our community is worth it and we just want to help people break those cycles of poverty,”

The Center needs around 20 volunteers daily to help with their efforts, with summer quickly approaching if you’re looking for a way to give back, you can visit their website for more volunteer opportunities.
