Changes coming to Greenfield Park this summer [Video]

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – People love to spend time outside at Greenfield Park, especially during the warmer months so they can take a paddleboat out on the water or walk the trail around the lake.

The City of Wilmington’s Director of Parks & Recreation Amy Beatty says they’re working on some upgrades and safety improvements.

“Greenfield Park is really a gem. It’s right in the middle of the city and is easily accessible to so many of our citizens,” Beatty said.

The city has partnered with UNCW’s Marine Science team to get the water in the lake cleaned up, reducing the amount of algae you can see along with improving the water quality.

As for projects outside of the lake, parts of the five mile walking trail will be repaired and resurfaced this summer. Beatty noted that this is the most popular amenity at the park.
