Charlie Curnow ruled out of Carltons season-ending clash in boost for Fremantle Dockers finals hopes [Video]

Fremantle’s hopes of securing a finals berth have been boosted by the confirmed absence of one of Carlton’s biggest stars, with Charlie Curnow ruled out of the Blues’ clash with St Kilda.

The two-time reigning Coleman medallist had initially been named in Carlton’s squad on Thursday as they look to overcome a host of injuries and nail down a finals spot with a win.

But Blues coach Michael Voss on Friday morning quashed any hope of a surprise comeback following Curnow’s ankle injury less than a fortnight ago.

“Charlie’s not playing. So that’s the not-so-great news,” Voss said.

“We sort of thought that he might be able to pull up pretty well from some of the things that he did the other day, but hasn’t pulled up as well as what we expected.
