Childrens Home Society celebrates Founders Day [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The Children’s Home Society celebrated their Founders Day Thursday evening.

Festivities started at 4 p.m. at the Children’s Home Society’s soon-to-be new home at Worthington Elementary School.

Families could enjoy food donated by Gordon Food Service and activities including face painting, rock painting, and games.

The Wood County Book Mobile and the Parkersburg Police and Fire Departments also attended, along with resource providers like Westbrook Health Services and Community Resources Inc.

Children’s Home Society Director of Programming Denise Hughes said bringing those resources together with a fun day of family activities brings a lot of value to the community. “It’s really important, because a lot of folks don’t know what’s out there,” she said. “This area doesn’t seem to have a lot of service providers and resources, so when we’re able to bring them in one place, they’re able to get served by more folks at …
