Cincinnati Police Department welcomes first therapy dog [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – There’s a new member of the Cincinnati Police Department and her name is Stella.

Stella is CPD’s first therapy dog and a member of the department’s Wellness Unit.

A police spokesperson says Stella will go to districts and offer emotional support for officers.

Stella will eventually help console victims of crimes as part of the Victims Assistant Liaison Unit.

Stella is the Cincinnati Police Department’s support K9(Cincinnati Police Department)

Stella’s handler is Sgt. Don Scalf, part of CPD’s Peer Support Team.

Stg. Scalf took Stella on new adventures as she explored the police academy and went to a Cincinnati Reds game.

“We’re incredibly excited to have her on board ❤️.”

Stella came from the non-profit K9s for Warriors in Florida.
