City of Cozad files disaster declaration after hailstorm [Video]

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – Dawson County residents are still grappling with the aftermath of a weekend hailstorm that caused widespread destruction.

The Cozad Development Corporation (CDC) announced that the city has submitted paperwork to designate the storm as a disaster. Meetings with state officials are scheduled to secure necessary assistance for those affected.

CDC officials urge struggling businesses to contact their office at 308-784-8006 for immediate assistance.

Families experiencing hardships can apply for emergency aid through the Methodist Church’s disaster response fund. The amount of assistance provided will depend on the number of applications received and the fund’s balance.

The CDC extends its sympathy to all those affected by the hailstorm aftermath.

Meantime, the Dawson County Treasurer’s Office is reminding anyone who had vehicles damaged during the storm that they have 60 days from the date of settlement to apply for a partial refund on their registration, if the vehicle was acquired by the insurance company through …
