Coast Guard rescues 2 overdue kayakers from island in Saginaw Bay [Video]

CHARITY ISLAND, MI – Two kayakers were rescued from an island in Saginaw Bay after they were reported as overdue earlier this week, officials said.

An aircrew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Detroit responded to the call on Tuesday, U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes Sector said in a news release. They conducted an aerial shoreline search of Charity Island and found the kayakers.

The crew hoisted the kayakers up to a helicopter and then took them to emergency medical services, officials said. They were medically stable at the time of transfer to EMS.
